The key design intention of the Wujiang Lakefront Landscape project is to connect the new Wujiang city (and its inhabitants) to the water.

A new landscaped embankment is created incorporating ribbons of planting, linear elements and pathways which draw lines to the lake, whilst symbolically nodding to traditional silk crafts. To create a dramatic city entry open spaces and cascading water ponds are interspersed at the end of each city road providing clear views of the lake, and a strong sense of connectivity between the city and the water. These linear pathways extend into the lake as jetties, an ideal location to view sunsets and water reflections on the lake across the different seasons.

JPW acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country and honours their continuing connection to lands, waters, skies and communities.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging – as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work; and the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation on whose land our Studio is located.
