The New Suzhou Transport-Orientated-Development gardens form the principle urban public space within the new Suzhou Industrial Park HQ city centre.  The expansive public space of 6.2Ha connects with three underground metro lines, the high-speed rail station and the adjoining development site to form an iconic urban park for people in transit and people working and living in the HQ city.

The design features four themed plazas to provide a variety of experiences for all seasons.  A highlight of the park is a series of iconic ‘moongate’ skylight elements that provide generous natural light to the underground metro, and a memorable focal point for visitors.

The Moongate and reflection pools are perfectly composed and carefully proportioned to create a unique entry feature experience that recalls the beautiful experience of entering ancient Suzhou on the canals, under the famous, traditional moongates bridges.

JPW acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country and honours their continuing connection to lands, waters, skies and communities.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging – as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work; and the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation on whose land our Studio is located.
